Eurydice by Tyanite Eurydice by Tyanite
Eurydice, Orpheus' wife and muse (?)

She is a Thracian girl who was sold into slavery into Orpheus' parents hall. She was about the same age as Orpheus, and they subsequently became best friends. When they grew up, they fell in love, but Orpheus couldn't marry her (because she was a slave) and he respected her too much to just sleep with her.
When Orpheus went off on the Argo, he swore to himself that if he made it back, he would marry Eurydice at once. Using his ~magical song abilities~ he was able to convince his parents to consent to the marriage. Sadly, Eurydice died and Orpheus traveled to the Underworld to try and get her back.

Anyway, I am really proud of how Eurydice came out. I accidentally gave her the same color scheme as Eros. Whoops. One of the major (mythological) traits of Thracians was red hair and blue eyes. They also were known for selling their children into slavery.

Then he botches the rescue up and she is forced to remain in the Underworld...in a ways it is kind of a nice story, but on the other side...it really shows that most Greek men were all boast and little action (or if they did something epic then usually there was something wrong)

I always heard she was a tree nymph that Orpheus called out of the tree with his music.

I couldn't really find very much evidence in regards to Eurydice's origins, so I let my headcanon take over. I also found that she was definitely from Thrace, and while Orpheus was also stressed to be Thracian, his kingdom (?) was not...In Thrace? It is supposed to be right next to Mount Olympus (The actual place) so...????

She must have come from a tree in Thrace. The story I'm familiar did say Orpheus was home when he called her out of the tree so... Where else would he be?

EDIT! I have just found THE REFERENCE
...in my main sources. Whoops.
Congratulations, Tya, you are completely oblivious.
Sadly I think I am keeping things the way they are. I am too attached to my version of Eurydice to change it now.

I am not really sure. While I have found some sources that say that Apollo was also her father, I never really found many tree-calling references? Who knows. The key lesson of Mythology is: There is always another version. So -shrug-
